ISO sets the standard – ISO 6425 in this case – and the watch might technically comply with these requirements. I don’t think Seiko has their watches certified, which should be done by an independent body, and every single produced watch should be tested to comply with the ISO 6425 standard. I don’t think that’s happening; Seiko doesn’t want to give info on it specifically.

The xtra money spent over the years if you keep it will be negligible. At the same time, you will get your money back in resale. Try selling “the other” brands.
